Noralba Benítez, is a distinguished Colombian coffee producer,
recognized for her commitment to excellence. She has won
significant local and national awards between 2021 and 2023,
establishing herself as a reference of quality in the sector. Noralba
carries out a cherry selection process and controlled fermentations
that range from 24 to 36 hours for her coffees.
Maria Elena, has been a coffee producer since 1988, she specializes
in natural processed coffees, committed to clean agricultural
practices that care for the land, the coffee, and the final consumer.
Her process begins with a careful selection of ripe cherries, followed
by fermentation in traditional tanks and natural sun drying, avoiding
the use of any chemical products for her coffee.
To say that we were excited when we first heard that not one, but TWO, of our favourite Colombian farmers had joined forces to produce a 100% female-grown lot, is an understatement. Noralba Benitez and Maria Elena Pulgarin have produced something incredibly special - a sweet, yet vibrant Colombian coffee with gorgeous notes of plum, rich dark chocolate and your favourite sangiovese. 'Chapoleras' is the traditional name given to the women who for generations, have harvested coffee across Colombia, travelling from farm to farm, hand-picking beans and raising their families on the road. It honours the first woman to be paid for her labour, labour that has formed the backbone of the Colombian coffee industry for decades.
A coffee as bold as the fearless women it is named for.
